Each year one of the families in our street organises our annual Halloween Trick or Treat. A notice is sent to all houses with a balloon attached. All children are invited to meet at a designated house at 5pm and those houses that wish to be visited by Trick or Treaters place the balloon outside their front gate.
This year about 15 children participated. We spent an hour traipsing from house to house, the highlight of which was meeting "Professor McGonagall" (a former school teacher) who had the children in fits of laughter and handed out the most beautiful hand made bags of lollies .
A lovely excuse for a meet and greet in our neighbourhood.

What a great idea to organise the street. I'll have to get a copy of your note and try that for next year.
I like the balloon idea! We had a wonderful Halloween here. People leave their porch lights on if they want to participate. If the lights are off, you don't knock on that door. People also decorate with pumpkins, mums, scarecrows, ghosts and goblins. It really is a fun time.
You know I am not keen on Halloween since I don't really see its relevance to Australia.
However the way you guys do makes it far more appealing!
This is a really great way to organise trick or treating. Not to mention building a fantastic sense of community in your street.
