After 'resting' overnight and simmering for 5 hours today this year's Christmas pudding is ready.
Now I just have to get my head around the seemingly hundreds of gifts I need to buy (make?) at this time of year. Not only do we have Christmas gifts to get but most of my family and friends seem to celebrate their birthdays from November-February.
At least my own children are middle-of-the-year babies.

What? You mean Christmas puddings are made by someone??? I just assumed they spontaneously appeared on the supermarket shelves.
Sadly, making a Christmas Pudding is one skill I can never see myself acquiring.
My head spins from the number of birthdays in the Sept to Christmas period.
Fairlie, we need to do a deal. You send me home-made hot cross buns at Easter; I'll make you a proper Christmas pudding.
One of the (many) things I insist on is a proper, if not seasonally inappropriate, Christmas spread. Regardless of the 45 degree day raging outside I love the Turkey, the Christmas Pud, the homemade egg custard. None of this summer seafood and salad business. Where do people think we live...Australia?
I am envious of anyone that makes their own Christmas Pud's.
First of all - those scarves are gorgous and seem to echo the colours of the hydrangeas. Hydrangeas run a very close second to peonies in my favourite flowers.
Secondly - that is just bloody amazing that pudding. I am not a pudding fan (christmas pudding anyway) but I really appreciate that you have gone to that effort. I love Christmas and am bound to blog endlessly about it and I am just in awe that you would make a pudding.

gorgeous - they are gorgeous.
gorgous. not a good word.
Christmas pudding is probably my favourite dessert. Or Tiramisu. Or lemon tart. Oh hell, ALL desserts are my favourite.
BTW I may make Christmas pudding but I currently have the world's highest ironing pile, my office is covered in boxes and computer cables all marked "DELL", there are at least two unwashed teacups on my desk and my king-sized bed is hidden under the un-folded washing.
I just don't want to fool anyone into thinking I have Martha Stewart tendencies with the home-made pud thing.
Just perusing a few posts here! I really loved the school artwork - the birds and butterfly ideas look very "stealable"!
And you scarves are beautiful.
And I have been eyeing the Maggie's Harvest - this is the same lady from The Cook and the Chef fame?, yes? One of my favourite cooking shows.
