Then we had to negotiate hard with her cantankerous husband.
It is only after a couple of years that you realise what a person sees in their house and why they were so reluctant to leave.
Like her garden. We are not dedicated gardeners and have not done her garden justice. Yet year after year it throws up little gems.
This year's gem is her Kangaroo Paw plantings. I'm fond of Kangaroo Paws because the red and green version are the floral emblem of my home state.
And, this year, our Kangaroo Paws are magnificent. There are two bushes, one of which must have about 15 heads, each head having twenty 'paws'.

Gardens can be magical places
They are stunning! I can completely understand the previous owners feeling like that. It really is a wonderful home...
Wow, your garden must look gorgeous! Lovely photos too.
Great roos. I had some here in a pot, soon after we arrived. It was the perfect little reminder of home.
Gorgeous, amkes me quite homesick. Unusual colours for K paws, very pretty.
I have never come across Kangaroo Paws, they are gorgeous and such a wonderful name.
I have never seen anything like those! How lovely.
I wish we could grow them, but they do not like our clay soil.
Yours are an absolute delight.
an established garden - you are the lucky one ! and I'm glad the paw takes you home ....
How funny that you had to be approved. Hilarious.
I love kangaroo paws and therefore they were right at the top of the shopping list for the great backyard refurbishment.
Some of the new colours are just gorgeous.
