Yeeeeee Haaaaaa

The Class Lists are done. Handed in. Finished. I have Class Co-ordinators assigned to most classes but Year Co-ordinators are a bit thin on the ground. Oh well, I'll have to do a bit of arm twisting. Next week.

Now I'm off for some retail therapy.

Could someone come over and attack my ironing pile please? You know how much I love ironing.

Ironing is my thing and I'm not too modest to say that I am pretty good at it! I have an appointment with a mountain of it this morning. I iron absolutely everything which is why I spend about four hours a week doing it.
Perhaps you could buy my sister in law's birthday present while you're out and in return I'll iron your tea towels.

Wish I could come with you for the retail therapy!

Stacey: It's a deal.
Mary: It was fun! I've got loads of things on hold to think about...

I have just spent thirty minutes with a parent DEMANDING that I give her 6 year old homework.
"She should be doing 30 minutes per night!" demanded pushy parent.
"She's a little girl." I responded.

I did NOT relent.

Told you homework was more about parents than children.

Well done, I'm sure DJ's will be happy - forget the thinking - you deserve it all!

Tracey: Oh no! I was in a discussion with similarly-minded parents of 7yo children today. Y'know "homework is good discipline for when they are older". Sheesh, they're 7, not 15, I'm sure their work ethic will come along just fine...

Power to the teacher that does not relent.

ArmyWife: You'll be pleased to know that I have one dress and two tops on hold as well as a totally KILLER pair of shoes.

Yay for you. I'll do the retail therapy but you can have the ironing, and mine too Stacey!

And yay for Tracey! Who are these idiot parents? Haven't they read the studies that say that young children build valuable brain connections and perhaps learn MORE on their own while playing than they do during formal instruction?

Homework and ironing...both the work of the devil.

And don't get me started about class lists...

Just enjoyed a little retail therapy myself..of the stationery kind - will post about it later today.

Tracey, m,: Must have been the day for it.
Parent: "Why don't you send home those work sheet things, you know, so that I can make her do something after school that's useful". Me, under my breath: Because 5 year olds have spent such a long day trying to be good, they need to run around the backyard and be kids".. NOT Under my breath.. "Have you thought about reading together or a walk to the park on the way home? There lots of signs you can 'read' together, lots of things to look at and talk about why, where, when, how, who...."

Power indeed...
