Happy New Year!

Approximately 30 adults and 20 children hung out at the EasternMax residence on NYE. The trampoline Santa delivered for Christmas was a popular distraction for the kids.
After an early dinner most of the guests wandered down to the foreshore to watch the 9pm fireworks, while a few of us were content to watch from the upstairs windows.

Later that night I wandered down to the foreshore to catch the midnight fireworks. Amazing. The highlights this year were the cube shaped fireworks, the heart-shaped fireworks, the giant "S"-shaped fireworks and the bridge display.

The above photo isn't mine, it's from the SMH. I've long given up on trying to take photos of fireworks.

A lot of fun was had by a million revellers around the harbour. And a lot of rubbish was left behind. People left blankets, clothes, cushions and, weirdly, telephone books.

I wonder why people can't take a large rubbish bag with them because this is the sight we were greeted with on our walk this morning. And the smell. Whew!
Happy New Year!
May you keep all your resolutions.

Thank you for hosting a lovely relaxing evening. Great weather, food, company and entertainment. You don't disappoint at the Easternmax abode. Scoring the best car park made a perfect end to the evening, making it so much easier to get a very tired 5y.o. home. Thanks M

You live in such a beautiful place. I am, however, sad to see that so many Aussies are litterbugs. It must have been the champagne.

Happy New Year M.

That looks very like the Cremorne Point walk above which I used to live a very long time ago.

You kind of make me wish I had stayed up until midnight to watch them on tv. Kind of!

I just love the view of Sydney Harbor. It is absolutely divine.... and with fireworks, simply breathtaking. The trash piles were breathtaking too.... but in a much different way!

Happy New Year M and family!

Okay...telephone books...NOW I'm intrigued. Any theories?

I watched your fireworks on TV after watching the pissy little ones from Gloucester Park from the roof-top terrace of our house-swap abode. Very thoughfully, those ones started at 11.45pm and concluded at 12am, allowing a quick dash downstairs to watch Sydney's (delayed) fireworks telecast.

Fairlie, we were intrigued by the telephone books. However, we've just had the new yellow pages delivered so I suspect the hoardes discovered a yet-to-be-dispersed stash and decided they would make good seats or piles to stand on.

The official capacity of the area was 1000. I reckon there would've been 10,000.
