But then I did see it. In 3D.
Man. Do you remember going to see Star Wars in 1977? Do you remember how you were wowed by the effects? How did they get stars to twinkle like that? How did that huge Star Destroyer seem to hover over our heads in the theatre?
Well go see Avatar. Sure it has that environmental soppy political theme to it but thirty years on and finally we have a whole new cinema experience. The 3D? Just go see it for yourself.
It barely needed a plot. And I'm not your Transformers/Terminator/Special effects blockbuster kind of chick.

SonOfNanu was going to see it this afternoon so I look forward to his report after reading this post. I have to say that, like you, it doesn't appeal to me, as yet, but HofNanu was overheard saying on the 'phone that he'd love to see it so I may be dragged along! Have never seen Star Wars so can't compare but they have so their comparisons could be interesting.
Pip is desperate to see it in 3D too. He has heard so many recommendations.
The effects were brilliant! The plot... meh. But I was too busy looking and being awestruck to notice.
The boys who stayed with their Dad over the Christmas break saw it and loved it too.
I'm looking forward to seeing it, just to check out the gunships that the marines use. Best description I have read is "Dances with wolves - in space".
Everyone is speaking so highly of this film I really want to see it too. How are you coping with the long school holidays/child care situation?
I couldn't agree more. I went to a 3D screening with work one night while the kids were at their Grandparents. Didn't have any idea what it was about but went to be part of the team and really enjoyed it.
