I'd like to say that after much consideration of my Digger's catalogue I chose a particular species of heritage tomato to grow this summer.
I'd like to say that, but I can't. In fact I whipped down to my local hardware store to see what they had out the back. They had these Roma tomatoes which I have on good authority (from my brother) will happily trail over the edge of my veggie beds without needing to be staked.
In the afternoon I told the kids to leave the poor TV alone and get outside. They complained, they harrumphed and they tried to negotiate but after a while they forgot that they'd prefer to be inside and decided to clip stuff in the garden.
It's amazing what you'll find your children doing if you just leave them to be for a while.

I love roma tomatoes! And your busy bees look like they are doing great work there.
Good kids! How'd those fancy carrots taste?
I hope they didn't clip your tomatoes?!
They look like little Edward Scissorhands.
You do know how inspiring you are being with this vege garden don't you!?
I knew PL reminded me of someone Mary! So this is the secret to getting veggies in them? Grow your own?! I know what I'll be doing this winter!
Lesley: the fancy carrots tasted...small. Hardly enough to bite on to get a taste! Mind you PL ate his, so I was pleased with that.
Mary: Scissorhands...hee hee yep a bit like that. PL Scissorhanded his toe yesterday - will hopefully remember to wear shoes from now on.
Melinda: yep, dig up a bit of garden and get the kids to plant the vegies!
Very inspiring. I'll be planting a new herb garden on the weekend, and planning a vegetable garden for the future. Nothing beats home-grown tomatoes.
I'm glad to see the fruits (or should I say vegies) of your hard work have arrived. I remember the 1st time Miss & Master A tasted fresh broccoli from Nana & Grandpa's vegie patch and couldn't believe it was the same thing that I had made them eat before.
PS I also just commented on your Kindy Mum post.
One day, when I don't have to work anymore and I have my little block of land with no neighbours so I can walk around naked if I want......oopps, too much information...lol.....I am going to have a fabulous vege and flower garden and chooks and all that grass roots type stuff. But for now I have too keep working to fund my dream.
I love the look of your garden.
