Mark Haddon's studyI just had to share this fabulous site from the Guardian Newspaper showing Writers' Rooms. A lovely reminder that we don't need a grand oak desk, or a room designed within an inch of it's life to be creative.
I call my study "the office". As I look around at the moment it has a fabulous newish built-in storage unit teamed artistically with an ironing table, huge pile of un-ironed clothes, an old Officeworks student desk and an untidy pile of soon to be overdue bills. My view, however, is excellent and makes up for my office's lack of designer cred.
PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUEENIE!

I am completely with you on school holidays and we are just waiting for J to disappear so we can all totally relax (terrible I know!).
And happy birthday to your girl - I love all these september birthdays!
Happy Birthday Queenie! Abby's was Friday so we are all caked out.
Amazing how many preconcieved notions we have about writing isn't it? And then we find that writers are as unique as everyone else in the ways and places that they craft their tales. Lovely photo.
Thank you for visiting my blog! It's very refreshing to hear voices from the other side of the globe!
I really like that photo of the study. I think that LIFE should be seen in photos of homes. We live in our homes, don't we! And life ain't very tidy happening.
However, I would cry for shame, if someone would take a photo of my study right now. You can't see desk under other stuff; they are all very important but definetely not in a right place.
