Signed, Sealed, Delivered and Spent

After years as an over-worked and unpaid mother I will, next week, re-enter the world of paid employment. And thereby become an over-worked paid mother. I signed my contract over the weekend, filled in a gazillion different forms and posted it today.

Yesterday, as a pre-celebration, I spent a goodly proportion of my first pay cheque on re-invigorating my work wardrobe because methinks a denim skirt and t-shirt will not cut it in the office.

I went with the express intention of buying dresses in any colour other than black.

Not successful on that front. I tried on outfits in red, green, grey and multi-purpley numbers but all were just a bit meh . I think I must just accept that black is my signature colour and run with it.

Besides, I won't be dressed in black from head to toe because look what I found this morning. When I want to go home I'll just have to click my heels three times.

These shoes even come with Tween approval.

Congrats on the job - will you be working "in town" as theys say?

M said...

No, not in town. More like in 'burbs, sort of.

Clearly the working thing is just an excuse to be able to lash out on shoes like those. Just gorgeous.

Good luck next week!
(ps: Tom1 took the most lovely picture of the harbour on our walk back to the ferry stop. I'm rea;lly glad you showed us where to go. In the nicest possible sense...)

That punctuation thing in the last comment was a mistake. Honest.

Who was it said, "Beware of all enterprises that require new clothes"? I would disagree, and say there's always a good reason to go shopping! And those shoes are BEAUTIFUL.

Very swish and stylish .I ♥ the shoes too.

All that stuff looks very impressive - there's nothing wrong with black if it works for you.

Good luck with the new job.

OOOhhh. I really love those shoes. Do they come in a blue? :)

You know - we couldn't go a winter without having matching shoes now could we?

Yay for the job! Yay for the new wardrobe!

Fairlie, I was thinking I'd love them in a teal blue as well but I think they only came in red. You know I'm not one for heels and my osteopath will kill me but these feel very comfortable.

Feel free to get yourself a red pair too and we'll both wear them to the SWF.

Go you.

Hence the job.

Win/win :)

Mmmm — I'd quite fancy a nice job with matching wardrobe. Congratulations!
Can't get a lot of detail of the dresses, but the shape and fabric look fab. And, of course, the shoes are perfect.

Thank you for all your lovely well wishes and comments on my Dorothy shoes.

Trouble is, I'm reading this darned book called "Enough" at the moment and I'm up to the chapter on rampant consumerism. Suddenly I'm feeling guilty about my purchases.

Must put that book down before it harms my wish to shop for good.

Stacey said...

No, no, it's not rampant consumerism, its:

(a) an investment in your reinvigorated career
(b) stimulating our economy

You had to buy all that gorgeous stuff. It would have been wrong not to.

Put that book down! Nothing should spoil your enjoyment of those gorgeous shoes.

Black is classic. I have a lot of black in my wardrobe. And it goes with any color shoe!

Congratulations! Wishing you lots of luck - but I think that with shoes like that you won't need luck!

You bought one pair of shoes, which you needed for work, 'rampant consumerism' is buying half a dozen pairs when you have no where to go.

The dresses and the shoes are fab, and I'm sure there're no anti-consumerists who'd advocate going to work naked. (Although, come to think of it, there probably is a Go to Work Naked Day, to go with Ride to Work Day and Jeans for Genes and Biggest Morning Tea etc)
