Jacaranda

It's Jacaranda month here in Sydney. Jacarandas are probably my favourite tree. Close behind are various species of Eucalypt and the beautiful Aspen tree (preferably surrounded by snow).

This Jacaranda is in my garden. I can view it up close from our second storey.

What are these two felines bristling at?

Oh, right, this noisy little bird.

And his wife - who is enjoying whatever it is she gets from this tree.

Oooo they are such lovely trees - you don't see them in Victoria (or maybe I haven't looked in the right places!)

Those are sure beautiful... and in sharp contrast to the leaves falling over on this hemisphere.
Enjoy!

I love them too, I was so excited I did a happy dance when I saw two in the garden of this house and now they are mine to enjoy. I took some pics last night with the gorgeous sunset, the colours are amazing!

What's not to love about jacarandas? They are, after all, purple.

One of those birds swooped me the other day, not only as I got out of my car on the way to swimming but also when I returned to it. I was watching for it then as well, little bugger totally lined me up and ignored all other members of my family. I don't wonder at the pusscats bristling.

When my Pete and I were first married and both at uni in Brisbane jacarandas meant that it was time for final exams.

I'm glad that now I can just appreciate them.

Isn't it interesting how trees and flowers can help us 'tell the time'. Like 'it's time for exams'.

Must remember to check out the amazing display of Jacarandas in Kirribilli before the blooms all drop.

Jacarandas are beautiful...but I've never known a more annoying tree to have in one's own yard. They are always dropping something...leaves, blooms, twigs, seedpods. They need a large lawned area. Or a fulltime gardener to clean up after them...

One of my all time fav's as well. On our drive into Sydney on Saturday you could see these amazing swathes of purple through the suburbs, stunning!
