08.08.08 was Eisteddfod Day in our house
While the Beijing Olympics may have been on your mind yesterday, the Sydney Eisteddfod was on Blossom's.
After six months of preparation Blossom finally performed her classical routine yesterday afternoon, along with forty other 10 year olds.
She was, of course, beautiful in her pale pink tutu and borrowed tiara.
I am pleased to say that this year's Eisteddfod was more relaxed than last year's with the girls performing fewer tricks (steps beyond the normal training for a 10yo) and less dramatic make-up being worn.
There was, however, just enough of the over-dressed girls to keep me entertained. What's the fun of an afternoon out if you don't see a 10yo in false eyelashes and lashings of eyeliner at 3pm performing multiple pirouettes?

Blossom looks so gorgeous! 10 points to you too, I couldn't manage the stress of it all! I fall apart easily :)
Her hair is so so fantastic - and she looks so elegant in her tutu.
I would love to be a fly on the wall and see the ballet mums who do such amazing makeup to their 10 year olds!
How did she go?
I wish I was brave enough to take photos of some of the makeup!
Blossom danced beautifully. She really presents well on stage. Her mark was just below a Highly Commended which is a great effort considering her teacher doesn't choreograph what we call the "tricks" into her routine. We just accept that this is all performance practise and don't consider it a competition.
She looks beautiful. I too am on the Eisteddfod trail at the moment. Keira went to her first one a few weeks ago and I think I'm still in shock . . . the second one last week wasn't quite as crazy and I think I was a lot more relaxed.
For us it's just another chance for the girls to perform as a group, which they love to do.
She looks divine. Very elegant.
I'm fairly sure that false eyelashes are the deciding factor in awarding places, especially if they are those ones with the diamantes attached.
oh my.
all my childhood ballet dreams in those photos, and adult voyeuristic pleasure in your words ;)
Doesn't she look beautiful?
The overdone makeup thing is a very strange look on young girls.
I used to compete in equestrian events and would often see young girls with their own hair covered up by wigs, which then necessitated larger than normal riding hats to cover their oversized heads. The things that are considered attractive in sport are bizarre.
Congratulations to Blossom on her great performance.
Well done to Blossom, she looks exquisite. And you're right, you are a dab hand with the ballet bun.
Once again, as pretty as a picture!
Can't wait to hear all about it soon.
