Sydney: Balmoral Beach: 26 August 9am

The mummy exercise scene is very big at Balmoral at 9am. Mums with dogs, mums with personal trainers, mums in Boot Camp groups. According to the friend I was with these groups are organised by school - mums from one school over there, mums from another over there.

I just had no idea. It made me giggle. Not that I could talk given that I too was there for a walk with a friend. But giggle we did as we agreed that we were much more into accidental exercise rather than Boot Camp.

Lovely morning for it 'though, if you're into that sort of thing.

Looks a great day for it. I wish I had more time when I was in Sydney in May.

It does look like a lovely day for it!

Boot camp, from what I understand consists of someone a bit mean yelling at you and making you do lots of exercises that hurt and make you feel like vomitting.

Sounds just like PE classes at school. There's a reason you leave school.

Maybe I should start a Mummy Tap-Fit course, straight after school drop-off!!!

Stomper has a very strong idea there !

Boot camp disturbs me.

Walking and laughing with a friend and taking photos of a gorgeous part of the world is much more my speed!

If I were closer I'd join you for the incidental stuff, but not for boot camp!
(I'd go to tap-fit though, is it possible to do that online?)

Only a tad disturbing...!

You have a lot of beautiful mornings over there. Boot camp for Moms, ugh. A nice scenic walk... brilliant!

I want to join tap-fit too!

We get young moms in bikinis playing beach volleyball at the local park ("I gut it! I gut it!"), while on the main road (much more visible than jogging round the park, especially if you run towards the traffic), we get groups of young moms jogging in athletic gear only slightly more modest than bikinis. They all — every single last one of them — jiggle blonde ponytails that they pull through the holes in their baseball caps. They wear jewellery. And make-up. And, I swear to god, I've seen 'em jogging while toting Starbucks cups and yacking on their mobiles.

Stomper, it sounds like your tap-fit course could have legs! (literally).

Lesley: I just love the mental picture of the young blonde moms with ponytails and Starbucks yacking on their phones!

We have a similar park... the boot camps, the mommy groups, and yes, lot's of moms just enjoying the terrain.
It's a lovely treat!
