This school building program isn't ugly

A large proportion of schools in Australia are building sites at the moment. This makes a large proportion of school yards ugly, surrounded in ring fencing covered in shade cloth.

Not so my daughter's (public) primary school in Sydney. A three storey, 12 classroom block is being built at her school and the building site is surrounded by the fence above.

Instead of ring fencing the Principal argued for white board fencing like the sort you see on commercial building sites. Then a school parent, who is a well-known local artist, outlined a mural and it was painted by the students with paint donated by our local Bunnings. The scale of this mural is enormous, by the way.

Rather than being an eye-sore, I can't imagine the school ever wanting to take it down.

Has anyone else got examples of artistic alternatives to the ring fencing/shade cloth options at our local schools?

That's fabulous, M! Bunnings do a lot of stuff to help schools, we just had a billycart building day and Bunnings sold us all the supplies at cost.
Do you know where the school is going to put the mural once the building is complete?

That looks so wonderful. Our school just has the boring wire fence, sadly. But we are looking forward to the renovations, I think we're getting a room that could be used as a gym. Inside assemblies on rainy days, woohoo.

I can't imagine that they would ever want to take that down either! It is divine.

That is amazing. I hope it can be used after the fences are no longer required? And I hope someone had photographed it all for archival purposes?

Our school has the standard wire fence with blue covering. Although we do have a tricky system of moving the fences twice a day to gain access to and from the front of the school for drop off and pick up. Think gates on a sheep run and you are in the right ballpark.

That looks fantastic! Our school just has the usual run of the mill Cyclone wire fencing, though apparently our new library and music room are almost ready... the 'hall' is a long way off yet.
