This was our view of Sydney harbour and surrounding houses at 6.28am this morning.
I woke thinking we had the most amazing sunrise. With fog. Only to realise that it was the biggest dust storm since about 1938. The sky was orange until about 8.30am.
The dust is coming from dry, drought-affected properties in the West of the state.
Dust is everywhere and in everything.
It was in this weather that I sent my 9yo baby off to his first school camp. He seemed happy enough.

I remember a dust storm like that when I was in primary school. It looks so eerie.
Did you resist the temptation to run behind the bus or tuck his clothes in extra tight before he left?
I remember seriously considering asking the teacher to keep an extra close eye on my boy because he is so special.
The weather is NUTS. It hit up here in NQ at around 4.15pm.
Amazing sky. I remember one like that when Cyclone Alby hit.And then we spent weeks trying to get the red dust out of everything.

Saw it on our news. When we lived in Brighton in the south of England occasionally our car had acquired a thin layer of sand overnight which had come from the Sahara Desert but the atmosphere wasn't affected.
It's on the news here too. It must be h*ll for you, but it LOOKS amazing! Ugh, the clean-up!
