A week in which
1. Padawan Learner made some new friends at his new school. It is hard to join a class with long-established friendships. He agreed at the beginning of this week that he would face his fears about finding new people to play with, and he did.
2. Blossom auditioned for, and got a place in, the school Concert band. We are proud of her - not because she got into the Concert band, even though that is great news, but because she was so determined to get in that she practised her Clarinet all through the holidays without once being asked.

Those are indeed good reasons to celebrate! I never practiced my clarinet or the piano without being asked. Never.
Fantastic things to celebrate - I feel proud of them myself!
Well done to both your children, and to you for raising such strong individuals.
It's lovely to see them succeed, isn't it?
As a former clarinet honker and member of the school band, I hope your sanity survived the holidays. I don't know how our music teacher put up with the awful noisy we used to make with our instruments. He played in the WASO, and listening to him play was unbelievable. We sounded like a flock of geese with the flu by comparison.
I hope she has a good supply of reeds?
J mentioned the other day that her mum forced her to play the piano for years as a kid, and she hated it. Her brother is a concert pianist and music teacher(so he's pretty good!), and she reached a high standard too - but she hated being forced to do it so much, she has not touched one in 20 years. It's nice to know you don't have that problem.
Junior went through hell for a few years at his old school because his group of friends all moved to other schools, and he failed to find another group. He was miserable and hated it. Going to high school was a great change for him - he's found a new group, and is loving it. It was not a pleasant time when he lost his buddies - but on the other hand, his new buddies are eating us out of house and home!
Well done to the kiddliewinks.
M I'm having trouble posting your comment on my blog. I will post it as soon as I am able and thank you for stopping by.
It sounds like your small people are forging out their own paths in this life and that is always worthy of celebration.
Little people are so resiliant and flexible, aren't they? Good for them - and certainly grounds for a celebration.
Great news for them both!
My daughter was/is a clarinet player. Lovely honey sounds ...
Both your kids are worthy of much praise and celebration, indeed.
Congratulations to your good self for raising such individual strong children. Yay.
What a lucky mum you are. Watching your children grow is the best.
