NSW Teachers' Strike

Fifty percent of the teachers at our local school joined the NSW Teachers' Strike today. This meant that while Padawan Learner went to school, Blossom didn't. I took Blossom and a friend out for the day.

Their reward for tagging along with my errands was a trip to Balmoral Beach.

Where we found that the Shark Proof net, isn't. Luckily it's not swimming weather.

It was, however, eating weather and I treated the girls to lunch at The Bathers' Pavillion (Bistro side).

Where I was given the most enormous, impossibly piled-up, plate of Caesar Salad. Ate about one-third of it.

What a ridiculous looking pile of salad — did it fall all over the place the moment you put a fork in it?

LOL!! You thought the shark net at Balmoral was SHARK-PROOF??!!!!

(excuse me while I hold my sides in agony as I laugh hysterically)

All I can say is.... we've been waiting at least 40 years for that sign. Local politics at it's most effective.

I grew up there, went to school there etc and just accepted that the net was ineffective. We just knew that there were holes in it, and that there was a huge gap between the bottom of the net and the harbour bed. And i can honestly say that I simply hadn't thought about people really TRUSTING the net. Just one of those things we accept when we're young, I guess.

Sorry for laughing. But thanks for the giggle - I really needed it!!

Why is food always piled like that? You can't eat it and there is never enough room to deconstruct it without messing up the tablecloth!

Did you feel virtuous and slim because you couldn't finish your salad?

Do you think anyone has ever finished one of those salads.
I bet restaurants just put a few fresh bits on top and send the leftovers out with the next order.

That salad looks like a hair-do! One of those big bouffant sixties ones.

What the heck is the point of the net if it's not shark proof?

Ew, Stacey. I'll be thinking about that next time I order a salad.

Agree with you about the shark net Melinda. I took that photo because, for ages, there has been talk of taking down the ineffective shark net. But no, rather than taking down the net the council would rather put up a sign...

Er yuk Stacey! I too will be looking suspiciously at the bottom of my salad plate from now on.

Next they'll need a council sign to warn about the Caesar salads.
