Since my confession that I knitted in public the other day I have found out that there is actually a World Wide Knit in Public Day. True. Check it out here. It's on the 14th June.
I just don't think I'm ready for that.
But I might (might) take my knitting to swimming lessons this afternoon. After all, I have S from TeamSAK's sock to finish.
I'll let you know how it goes.

UPDATE: I knitted for an hour at a public swimming pool with at least 11 lessons going at once plus loads of mums and toddlers in the splash pool.
And no-one noticed.
Well, no-one said anything. And I was knitting a sock, and that actually looks weird.
Hmmm... I wonder if I should run the gauntlet and knit at school pick-up? Will report back.

Why wouldn't you knit in public? I do, despite my novice status. The only thing that happens to me is that people get interested in what I'm making (I tell them hastily I'm a beginner) and romance the idea of geting their needles out again.
Actually the bulk of my knitting gets done at the kids' swimming lessons but when I tried the other week to watch 2 kids at once I started purling on the knit side and my friend had to pull out 5 rows for me.
Yes, Stomper Girl, I should just embrace the knitting in public thing. But I'm a Wuss (note capital "W").
Perhaps I am in a non-knitting part of the world as I usually just get greeted with bemused looks.
perhaps you need to live in the mountains.
Up here no one would like twice.
In Finland it's totally common to knit in public. I'm not saying that there are public knitters all over the country, in every cafe or park, but it's not considered weird here. So many freaks walking in the streets anyway, knitting is rather lame thing to do!
Oh go on...you know you want to.
Oh, go ahead! I crocheted a very lairy blanket during my daughter's ballet classes last year. The adults didn't turn a hair, but I noticed a few of the young girls were fascinated, but didn't dare come right over!
Looks like I may be reinstating the robot widget on my comments form...
