The Birthday Shopping Spree has stopped ...

because someone's husband bought this at our recent school Art Auction fundraiser

Year 3 Artwork "Tree of Birds"

Last Saturday our school held its end of year drinks combined with an auction of 7 Year artworks and 25 Class artworks which the students have been working on for the last 6 months. The Year works were completed under the direction of a local artist (and school parent) and the class artworks were completed under the direction of the teachers. Every student produced a small piece of work which was collaged into the larger year works. The results were amazing.

We were gobsmacked at how much money we raised. Our estimate was a profit of about $5,000-$10,000. We raised nearly $40,000.

Year 1 Art Work "Butterflies"

Padawan Learner was at pains to point out that he didn't paint a butterfly. He painted a moth.

Well, of course. I'd be exactly the same.

A MOTH is totally, completely, and utterly NOT a butterfly ;)

P.S. - yes, impressive works !

The ballerina looks beautiful - really beautiful. They obviously have a fantastic wardrobe department!

And the painting is wonderful. Best Tree of Life I have seen in ages.

And your comment about Aix en Provence. I'd be working on a short story of that day if I was you.

KelpieBlossom calls the new painting her "worry tree" inspired by the book by Marianne Musgrove. It's a lovely place for a little worry-wort like her to hang her worries at night.

Quite so, Padawan Learner. Butterflies are for sissies.

These artworks are AMAZING. How fantastic to raise so much cashola too.

I love the artworks. The butterfly (and moth) one is just gorgeous. Glad the ballet concert went so well, i hope you enjoy your well-earned lazy morning.

Thank you for your words about the Jokela school shooting.

What really amazes me is the fact, that you there very far away from Finland know about it!

Very impressive fund raising! I love both of those artworks (& especially glad to hear The Worry Tree is still working!). Enjoyed the Ballet photos - we've just had exams and have a Wizard of Oz production coming up, so can relate.
