After you finish a book do you:
(a) immediately pick up the next on on your TBR pile and start reading
(b) take a day's/week's/month's break
(c) what? finish a book? wouldn't know what that was like (Firegazer, and others who lack book commitment should tick here)
Check out my poll. Closes next Sat.

mmm take a couple of days break - husband definately fits into last category unless its Ralph magazine.
Mostly (a) mainly due to being a member of two bookgroups and trying to fit my other reading around them. But sometimes (b), especially if the book I just finished was particularly long, draining or very, very good. And if it is the last of these, the gap can last up to a week - but only in extreme cases ;-)
I usually have a few days between books when don't read anything :)
Hm. I wish I was organised enough to have a TBR pile.
How about d) Find nearest book (read/unread -who's fussy?) and launch straight into it
Cause that's me.
:-)
... and my dad wants to add e)start next book BEFORE finishing the previous one.
(he never comments on my blog so I thought I'd record his thoughts).
Firegazer hrmphed at me when he saw that I targeted him with point c). It's not that he doesn't finish any books. He just never finishes books that I recommend...
Probably a mostly, but c sometimes.... if it isn't interesting by chapter 2 I'm putting it down. Between two kids, homework for kid one, supper and laundry.... I have to stress quality reading time. No time for mediocrity around here.
I'm definitely an (a) mostly because if I don't get started straightaway on the next one, I risk the TBR pile growing to the point it topples during the night and crushes me.
Okay, I was going to say that I would usually like a few days before starting my next book, especially if I've really enjoyed it, but then I saw your Dad's comment and have to admit that if I find a book slow going I'll start another one to have on the go at the same time!
MyDad is quite capable of posting his own comments. Mostly I will have the next book started before finishing the current read. This is usually because I am too lazy to walk to where the current read happens to be situated.
While we are on the subject of books, I have just finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. Well worth the effort.
What's this? Not one, but two comments from MyDad. Excuse me while I recover from the shock.
Welcome to the Blogosphere MyDad!
See M you shouldn't have been bad mouthing your Dad at bookclub last night - just kidding!!!, a few of us clubber's also have more than one book on the go at a time.
